Hm, good one. For me it depends on what I mean...like, should they deserve respect for respects sake for no other reason than that? I would say, yes (ideally). But, so do all people, right? Are some shepherds and others not (when it comes to being gifted)? Maybe. Do I have elders/shepherds at church who I havent met? Yes. Should I consider them so? Yes, I think so. Their authority is given them by the body (God?) Is it ideal that there are bodies with shepherds who they dont know really? Probably not... I would have to look into this a lot. I guess I would have to examine why I wouldnt (want) to regard them as such in the first place even though I havent met them. What do you think, Joe?
